The Great Coastal Birdwatch – Botany Bay

Originally created by Bird Aware Solent, but now a multi-organisation event, The Great Coastal Bird Watch is a celebration of the arrival of the migratory birds which spend the winter on our coastlines. By taking part you’ll increase your knowledge of the coastal birds in your local area, help contribute valuable data and learn how to become more bird wise. 

Join Bird Wise East Kent at our Botany Bay Pit Stop. Grab a spotting sheet and take anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour to walk the East Kent coast and note down all the bird species you see. It’s as simple as that!  

Not only that, we will have our van with lots of informational material as well as our famous Turnstone Game at each of the pit stops for the whole family to enjoy. You can even get your dogs involved with some Savvy Sea Dog freebies and photo opportunities!

Not sure on your bird identification? Our rangers will be on hand to help you figure out just which bird is which. Or join us on one of our guided walks where we will be pointing out each of the birds that we spot, with identification tips.
